for which we all do battle |
Welcome
to our web site!
We are a small group of mature gents and ladies,
who meet to race our
1/32 scale analogue cars on a 4-lane, 13m Scalextric circuit
in a garage owned by one of our members.
Our ethos is to only race cars "out of the
box",
so that anyone should be able to turn up with a freshly purchased
car, bought new, at a swapmeet or found on eBay - or even
one that's been in the loft for a few years - and not be completely
at sea in competition with other members. It's the cheapest and
most accessible way of racing. So there are no
classes for
scratchbuilt or modified cars, but if you have any ordinary
Scalextric, SCX, Ninco, Fly, Carrera, etc. car, that will run
well on Scalextric
Sport track*,
then there will be an opportunity to race it - see the cars
page. Each meeting
also includes at least one class for cars without
magnets - a real drivers' challenge! Some of our members
also race digital Scalextric at a
separate venue.
We race throughout the year, for around 3 hours
at a time, approximately fortnightly in the evenings (less frequently
in summer), fitting racing in around our families and other commitments
that take priority. We are a non-profit organisation, but racers
pay a small fee at each meeting to go towards refreshments, track
maintenance and improvements. We also meet online in our private
discussion forum on this web site, in between races, where we
discuss all things motor-racing, whether 1/32 scale or real life.

We
have three analogue rotas with competitions and one-off race
nights running throughout the year. Every
racer has the chance of being a "Meeting
Winner" for
any event they attend, and can also be "Class
Master" in any of
the classes we race, with acknowledgement of achievements
on the results
page.
Because our
events use privately owned facilities, attendance is by invitation
only. Also we
have to limit membership numbers to prevent overcrowding and
to ensure everyone gets plenty of racing, and has the minimum
standing about or marshalling to do. If you'd like to find out
more about us and maybe join our merry band (and can commit to
reasonably regular attendance), having read the rest of this
site first, contact
the Garagemaster.
*but see the tyres section of the
rules page for more information regarding other makes of car.
